Hiya! (that's how they great each other here in Scotland C: )
Oh my goodness! these past few weeks have been so crazy. I left of Scotland on my pday from the MTC so I didn't get to e-mail at all that day and then the next week we only had an hour since we were going to skype our family later that week they cut our pday time short and today is kinda the same since we have New Years Eve where we have to be in by 6 but luckily we get 2 hours this time C:
Things have been going soooooo good! It's been weird getting used to roundabouts. (those are like 4-way stops.. but scarier haha) and you have no idea how people driving on the opposite side of the road can really throw you off when your crossing the street. haha. We ride buses every where we go. Or walk. they have tons of bus stops and there are multiple bus stations. they're a little hard to figure out at times and annoying because they're usually late but we have missed a few because they were early and all we could do is watch it drive by and hope we could catch another one passing by the same spot soon. However, the Lord provides. almost every time we have missed a bus or gotten on the wrong one we have some how run into someone who is interested in hearing the gospel! So cool. and when we see someone on the bus more than once we know it's not a random happen stance but that its meant to be! haha
All the Sisters when they come out get a tartan scarf. It has a crest on it and it says SIM (Scotland Ireland Mission) "Act Well Thy Part" the elders get a tie. also we have a theme song! I know it's way
cool. It's called 'til the work is done' ... I think.
Things have been going good here. It is a lot colder now and when we wake up in the morning we can see everything is frosted over. It's interesting cuz even the sidewalks frost over because they're just constantly wet haha. I stepped in doggy poo yesterday T_T You really have to watch out for that stuff here cuz there are so many dogs
Not many People here have computers in their homes! it's weird, and they're super blunt and sassy and pretty much say what they want even when it's rude and lots of people don't get offended. they kind of say it like its a joke but... everyone knows it's not.. haha.. So, not everyone is lacking a computer but more than I expected. Also they recycle everything here. There's a bag for the cardboard stuff a little brown (stinky) can for all your left over food and the regular trash is for papers and plastics. Its hard work remembering to sort it all haha. We have it easy in America! lol.
There are still quite a few people I don't understand haha but I think I'm getting the hang of it. They definitely do say a lot of weird words. And they say 'eh' a lot more than any Canadian I've met... which has been quite a few actually so I can say that lol.
Anyways yeah, I really need to get some pictures to you all! honestly I haven't had time to really get some snapshots because our p-days have been weird due to holiday's. Since we can't really do much on Christmas day (or boxing day the day after Christmas which is basically an extra day of Christmas only people don't do anything. we've asked around and no one really knows why they have it...) and we have to be in by 6 o'clock on New Years Eve.
Our flat is right next to the ocean though! There's a castle somewhere near by that Sis. Wilkinson says we can go see it next pday. I can see the sea from this bridge that we walk across quite often and it's beautiful. It's so hilly over here that sometimes we'll be tracting and all of the sudden you're by these houses but you can see out for miles. Double Decker buses are super cool I've only ridden in the top once but it was fun. It's so green here even though it's winter. it's crazy.
Ah... it's been so great and my trainer is super fun and cool and spiritual C: The members are amazing here and the ward I'm in used to be the home ward for my mission president so that's cool beans.
A piece of advice. Share the gospel. You'll be surprised at how many people are ready for it, and you know them and hang out with them! And help out the missionaries. if you don't want to talk to someone about the gospel, refer it to them! We LOVE referrals think of someone and just do it. And if there's one thing I've learned is that the Lord blesses us in so many ways that we cant even see. and often He would love to bless us more but we need to ask for it! If you want to be more charitable, or maybe more kind pray for help! Pray and use your faith to gain that desired attribute. OK soap box done, I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week! Enjoy life :)
Stay cool!
Love, Sister McBride
