Finally! A letter! December 29, 2014

This was sister McBrides letter we got today she titled it finally a letter she wanted me to post it to the blog... This is a picture  took while we were skyping.

Hiya! (that's how they great each other here in Scotland C: )

Oh my goodness! these past few weeks have been so crazy. I left of Scotland on my pday from the MTC so I didn't get to e-mail at all that day and then the next week we only had an hour since we were going to skype our family later that week they cut our pday time short and today is kinda the same since we have New Years Eve where we have to be in by 6 but luckily we get 2 hours this time C:

Things have been going soooooo good! It's been weird getting used to roundabouts. (those are like 4-way stops.. but scarier haha) and you have no idea how people driving on the opposite side of the road can really throw you off when  your crossing the street. haha. We ride buses every where we go. Or walk. they have tons of bus stops and there are multiple bus stations. they're a little hard to figure out at times and annoying because they're usually late but we have missed a few because they were early and all we could do is watch it drive by and hope we could catch another one passing by the same spot soon. However, the Lord provides. almost every time we have missed a bus or gotten on the wrong one we have some how run into someone who is interested in hearing the gospel! So cool. and when we see someone on the bus more than once we know it's not a random happen stance but that its meant to be! haha

All the Sisters when they come out get a tartan scarf. It has a crest on it and it says SIM (Scotland Ireland Mission) "Act Well Thy Part" the elders get a tie. also we have a theme song! I know it's way
cool. It's called 'til the work is done' ... I think.

Things have been going good here. It is a lot colder now and when we wake up in the morning we can see everything is frosted over. It's interesting cuz even the sidewalks frost over because they're just constantly wet haha. I stepped in doggy poo yesterday T_T You really have to watch out for that stuff here cuz there are so many dogs

Not many People  here have computers in their homes! it's weird, and they're super blunt and sassy and pretty much say what they want even when it's rude and lots of people don't get offended. they kind of say it like its a joke but... everyone knows it's not.. haha.. So, not everyone is lacking a computer but more than I expected. Also they recycle everything here. There's a bag for the cardboard stuff a little brown (stinky) can for all your left over food and the regular trash is for papers and plastics. Its hard work remembering to sort it all haha. We have it easy in America! lol.

There are still quite a few people I don't understand haha but I think I'm getting the hang of it. They definitely do say a lot of weird words. And they say 'eh' a lot more than any Canadian I've met... which has been quite a few actually so I can say that lol.

Anyways yeah, I really need to get some pictures to you all! honestly I haven't had time to really get some snapshots because our p-days have been weird due to holiday's. Since we can't really do much on Christmas day (or boxing day the day after Christmas which is basically an extra day of Christmas only people don't do anything. we've asked around and no one really knows why they have it...) and we have to be in by 6 o'clock on New Years Eve.

Our flat is right next to the ocean though! There's a castle somewhere near by that Sis. Wilkinson says we can go see it next pday. I can see the sea from this bridge that we walk across quite often and it's beautiful. It's so hilly over here that sometimes we'll be tracting and all of the sudden you're by these houses but you can see out for miles. Double Decker buses are super cool I've only ridden in the top once but it was fun. It's so green here even though it's winter. it's crazy.

Ah... it's been so great and my trainer is super fun and cool and spiritual C: The members are amazing here and the ward I'm in used to be the home ward for my mission president so that's cool beans.

A piece of advice. Share the gospel. You'll be surprised at how many people are ready for it, and you know them and hang out with them! And help out the missionaries. if you don't want to talk to someone about the gospel, refer it to them! We LOVE referrals think of someone and just do it. And if there's one thing I've learned is that the Lord blesses us in so many ways that we cant even see. and often He would love to bless us more but we need to ask for it! If you want to be more charitable, or maybe more kind pray for help! Pray and use your faith to gain that desired attribute. OK soap box done, I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week! Enjoy life :)

Stay cool!

Love, Sister McBride

Finally in Scotland!

HELLO all, well, I'm sorry to report I haven't put anything up because we really haven't heard from her. Sister McBride, She left the MTC and into Scotland on her Pday so she didn't get to write.  We were able to briefly talk with her on the phone and I mean very briefly, about 1 minute. Yes, really, one minute before she left New York to Scotland. Just enough for her to say everything was good and great and that she had to go because their connecting flight was an hour late and they only had 20 minutes to check in and get on the plane to Scotland.

We were hoping to have heard something upon her arrival in the mission home.  But we had no word. Bishop finally wrote the mission home Friday and asked for an update on Sister McBride and if she she had made it. This is the picture we received with a brief message saying she was with Sister Wilkinson as her trainer. They didn't say where her first area was so I wrote back thanking them for the picture and other information (instructions for mailing packages etc) but that we weren't sure where she was serving and if they would let us know. All they wrote back saying was she was in the Dundee stake and weren't aloud to give out addresses of missionaries. (kinda wasn't looking for an address just a town....haha... but that's ok) So, here is the picture! Looks like she is wearing a SIM (Scotland/Ireland Mission) scarf and her name tag! I love that! There's my missionary!!!

We were hoping to get a letter today her P ay... but, I don't think she was aware of a time limit on her computer and this is the letter we received... so sorry it's not much BUT, I contacted someone from the mission home through the Mission FB page and they said that she was feeding her tonight and will check in with her to see how she was. All we know is we will get to facetime Christmas day I will have more for everyone then I hope! we only get to face time 40 minutes. I was really hoping for an hour... But I am really grateful I get to! so I wont complain. Here is her letter.

Hiya!

That's how people greet each other here. It's cool. So I'm in a place called Kirkcaldy (pronounced Kirkcaudy) The weather is cold over here but it really hasn't been raining too much. It drizzled a lot yesterday afternoon but we were on buses a lot. They have buses as transportation here. Lots of people don't have cars. It's been an adventure figuring out how they work. I rode the top level of a double decker one! :D Dream lived! It was AH! the computer is telling I have to get off in 50seconds! so ok.... i love you all sorry I don't have longer. My companions cool people are great fun fact!

Not a long one. Darn... it sounds like it was going to be a great letter too...haha... I did find out that the mission president  writes all the missionaries and expects a letter back on each p day that they have to write during their time to write home and they only get an hour to read everyone's emails, and the mission president, write the mission president and then write everyone else. Someone on the mission FB page said they they had halved their time to write today because they were calling on Thursday so that also may have been a factor. SO.... till Christmas you will no more  I promise!!

So she is in Kirkcaldy Scotland which is in Fife along the sea. I'll update you when I know more! until next time! Keep the gospel!
