Miracles Happen!!: Prayer is one of the greatest things EVER!

A couple of pictures that sister McBride sent today. Sister McBride with her companion and Elder Gates the one on the right and Elder Perry the one third from the left have both left to go home this week.

Looks like a great bunch of missionaries!

Sister McBride's weekly letter:

Hi ya! to answer your question about our new baptism scheduled for Feb 19th well, Mark and Lilly are awesome!! Basically Lilly has quite a bit of a religious bckground. Her and Mark recently married though they're probably in their late 30's or 40's and Lilly used to live in Milaysia. She said when she moved she felt Heavenly Father urging her to go to church but all the churches she went to didn't feel right to her but the Sister Wilkinson and Sister Johnson (sister before me) slipped a Mormon.org card through their door and Lilly said she got so excited and felt the Spirit and teared up and everything. She told Mark this was the one and she txt the sisters later that day! How awesome is THAT!
We taught them after church yesterday and they brought a deaf friend named Andrew who also really likes learning about the gospel so we have another investigator! :D The spirit is very strong when we teach them. Lilly is able to understand so quickly. She said (when were explaining the Plan of Salvation) that she heard someone telling her and helping her understand what we were saying and then she was able to help Mark better understand because he's had no religious background! It's so cool how she understands a great deal more than what we signed to her. They are so cool!! They really want to start bringing their friends and stuff and they're just amazing.
Margret is great, but she has a lot of problems 'knowing' things are true. You know like we say we know we can return to live with Heavenly Father but she has trouble saying she knows. She believes but she tells us  we can't really know.... anyway well figure her out soon enough
Last story: miracles happen!!! So..  Sis wilkinson and I were at Alisons house (a recent convert of about a year who feeds us and goes on joint teaches with us and is basically just fabulous) in Woodside. We were waiting for a bus but thought we'd missed it so we started walking to a different stop to hopefully catch another. Of course just as we got far enough here comes the bus! so we book it back to the stop just in time! (picture me with a heavy side bag spriniting in boots and a skirt... it's pretty rediculous :) ) anyway in that process I lost my wallet but did'nt know till we got on the bus and it drove away! I was freaking out! (it was about 8pm) Sis wilkinson called Alison and asked if she'd go out looking. All this time I'm just praying an praying that someone kind will find it! It's got my mission debit card, my regular debit card, my library card for the computers at the library, and my weekly bus pass! anyway we were lucky and Alison came across a group of girls who had found it and asked her if she was looking for a little black purse. They were so nice and were about to turn it into the police but luckily Alison came by just in time!!! Prayer is one of the greatest things of ever!!! It was a miracle!
Jacob 7 is also, so good! (random scripture popping into my head)
Anyway I hope everything is going well with you all. Tell dad sorry I didn't get to write to him personally but  I am staying warm and I do have those holy crap I'm in Scotland moments.... haha.
I love you all a ton!! Pictures will come later today! The gospel is true! and changes lives...

This is a picture a sweet sister took of her at one of their dinner appointments and the sweet sister send it to me via FB message. Love that sweet missionary of mine!!

MISSION MAP

A friend told me about mission maps. I had no idea they had this! So I went on a mission...so to speak... to see if I could find a map of her mission and I found it. I thought it was so cool that I would post it for everyone to see!

The highlighted portion is her mission. The red dot is Edinburgh where the mission home is located. Her mission is Scotland/Ireland.  Southern Ireland is an independent country and not part of the UK. BUT Northern Ireland is in the UK and  IN her mission! It's a bit confusing. There is a great video explaining it all here.
She is serving right where the arrow is pointing to Kirkcaldy. She is right on the ocean! She says she can walk a block from her apartment and can see the ocean. How cool is that.

The big picture is a more detailed map showing the areas, towns and cities broken down and showing where the Stakes are and the wards in those stakes over the entire mission. I'm sorry you can't see it very well I can't give you a link to go to it because you have to have a LDS account to have it linked to and I can't get it to link up. If you have an LDS account you can log in then go to the tool bar at the top click on resources then on mission. It'll direct you to the mission page. At the bottom of the side bar on the left click on mission maps. it'll direct you to a download of the mission maps. Click on the image that says Europe. Then scroll down until you find Scotland/Ireland mission. It's all in Alphabetic order. You can click on the paper size which is the one first icon and the map above will appear or the poster size which is the second icon and of the map below. The second one is much bigger and gives a really good view in more detail of the mission. It's my favorite one because you see all the details and gives you more of an idea of where she is.

Remember to pray for the missionaries today. Everyday. They need lots of your prayers, love and support. Write a missionary today. It'll help you feel closer to the Lord and brighten a missionaries day!

Jan 19th... A baptismal date- WOOT!

Sister McBride and Sister Wilkinson outside the church building they call 'The Kirk'

Hello! everyone sorry the emails have not been coming regularly. With the crazy holidays and then I had the flu last week for a few days but it's all good now! and the computers we use are... OLD... LOL...and often crashes...

We have a baptismal date!!! set for Lilly and Mark! They're the deaf couple we've been teaching. Unfortunately I wasn't there for the lesson when they set the date. We were on exchanges with the Sisters from Dunfermline. Sister Martin is super cool! I'll send a picture of us with this lady from Tonga named Sepi. She's a member that moved from Tonga to be here with her sister. her English isn't very good but her sister isn't LDS so she didn't know where the church was. She sent a referral to have the missionaries come over so we did and she cried because she was so happy to see Sis Martin and I and that she could go to church on Sunday cuz she missed it so much. She is such a sweet heart! Anyway so yeah the other sister (Sis Wagner) and Sis. Wilkinson saw Lilly and Mark with an interpreter who knows BSL from his mission, a BSL missionary, and were able to resolve some issues they had about baptism. Now it's all set for Feb 18th!! WOOT were super excited. they're just so ready for the gospel it's ridiculous C:
We're also teaching a nice older lady named Margret who's like 75 or something. She makes us scones C: she really liked how we think family history is important and she really enjoyed the story of Joseph Smith. We've only met with her once so we'll see how things go today. hopefully she's still interested C:
We had a south Scotland conference? I bleieve that's what it was. Cuz it was more than just our zone but not all of Scotland... I'm not really sure what it was lol. It was about what our goals are for this year which is two baptisms per missionary per year! So yay! I think it's very accomplish-able and I'm excited to do it. It was a very good spiritual conference. I also had my first district meeting last Tuesday. We didn't have it for so long because of the holidays. Plus Elder Bailey the DL was new to the area. Moves are next week! crazy right?! Sister Wilkinson and I will probably stay since I'm in training but we're not sure about the Elders.
Yay for the letter from francis! (mom here: Sister Francis had heard when Sister McBride had gotten there that I was concerned about the skyping since I we hadn't gotten any email and I didn't know when etc. She told sister McBride that she would write to me and tell me she is taking good care of her, which she did, it was a lovely sweet letter and it said "not to worry that I'm taking good care of the lovely sister McBride when she visits every Saturday"... So sweet!)  I'll have to tell her you got her letter. She's our mission presidents mother-in-law. She's like 5 foot nothing and 94! She is a hardy Scotts woman..haha... so sweet.
Sister Wilkinson and I sang in Church yesterday. We sang where can I turn for peace. Sis. Wilkinson is like a genius at piano and made up this beautiful arrangement off the top of her head.

Well, I only have about a minute left... Gospel is true everyone! share it! love you all A whole ton!!

Jan 12th Sorry- No letter this week

 Matthew mcconaughey

Sorry everyone, there's no letter this week. Praying next week is a bit better. I know she has  had computer issues in the past and she tries really hard. I know  it makes it really hard for her and she wants to write home.  Hopefully, things will work out for her next week and she can get things working like she would like so we can here from this awesome missionary! we love her and she needs lots of love and support! I will try to stay more positive. I get sad when I can't hear from her.

One month down! - going strong

It's gone by very fast! I realized on the 1st that I was almost out a month. It's different though cuz I've only been in the field for 3ish weeks so yeah. It has been quite cold. there was one day where is was all just frost. Everywhere. I think that was last Monday actually. Ah! It was freezing. I could feel the cold seeping in through my clothes...haha but it hasn't been like that very often. It's quite mild today. I judge that because I cant see my breath haha. My coat holds up fine with the rain. It's only mainly sprinkled. No heavy rains yet.

We are teaching a family of 3! Plus a friend! So we met this lady on the bus and we scheduled a time to go to her place and give her the first lesson. Well turns out she has two kids Robert who is 25 and Melisa who is 24. Robert is... interesting but he is progressing as an investigator. We take members with us for a Joint Teach (JT) They had a friend over the other day who we'd never met and he said he had been taking lessons in France whilst on holiday and that he was still interested in taking them! We have high hopes. C:

Mark and Lilly are a deaf couple that we are teaching. We've been studying sign language in the mornings so that we can better communicate with them. BSL is super fun and we're having a sign language class night for like 30 min so people in the ward can also learn how to communicate with them so that will be fun. They're super nice and are just golden investigators. They saw an lds.org card and called up the sisters. and they came to sacrament meeting yesterday! Woot!

I saw a castle. The ravenscraige castle. It's small and mostly ruins but it was still cool! I didn't have my camera but it's right on the beach... Ahh it's so pretty. C:

I can't believe it snowed! That's crazy. It hasn't even snowed here!... Another year gone. New Years is quite the holiday here. It's probably bigger that Christmas which is sad. We had to be in by 6 New Years Eve (or Old Years Night) and then the day of we were at a members house where we had crackers and paper crowns like they do at Christmas. It was fun. Jan 2nd is also a holiday which is lame and makes no sense so that interfered with proselyting time... but it's finally over and we can get back into the swing of things!

Share the gospel! it's awesome!

Love,
Sister McBride
